January 2021 value of mortgage loans in Azerbaijan grows in absolute terms

The loan client portfolio amounted to over 14.2 billion manat ($8.3 billion) in the Azerbaijani banking sector in January 2021, while the country's banks completed January 2020 with a loan portfolio worth 15.12 billion manat ($8.89 billion), Trend reports referring to the financial report of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).

The total loan portfolio of the country's banking sector decreased by 6 percent or by 902.6 million manat ($530.9 million) year on year.

In accordance with the CBA report, the largest part (59.5 percent) accounted for the business loans in the structure of the loan portfolio of Azerbaijani banks, the value of which shrank by 8.1 percent (by 748 million manat or $440 million), making up 8.46 billion manat ($4.98 billion).

In terms of share, the value of entrepreneur loans dipped by 1.4 percentage points.

Slightly over 26 percent of all loans in the Azerbaijani banking sector accounted for consumer loans and their value decreased by 10.1 percent (by 414.4 million manat or $243.7 million) and amounted to 3.7 billion manat ($2.2 billion).

The share of consumer loans lowered by 1.15 percent.

The remaining 14.45 percent of all loans accounted for mortgage loans, the share of which grew by 2.55 percentage points.

The value of mortgage loans in absolute terms increased by 14.5 percent (by 259.8 million manat that’s $152.8 million) and made up over 2.05 billion manat ($1.21 billion) from January 2020 through January 2021.
