Kazakhstan records growth in volume of payment services

Seventy payment organizations were registered in Kazakhstan as of January 1, 2021, Trend reports referring to the National Bank of the country.

According to the bank, in 2020, 430.1 million transactions worth 2.3 trillion tenge ($5.5 billion) were carried out through the services of payment organizations: compared to 2019, the number of transactions decreased by 7 percent, while the amount grew by 15 percent.

Besides, 64.5 percent of payments in the amount of 1.5 trillion tenge ($3.6 billion) were made for the services of mobile operators, exceeding the indicators of 2019 by 26.4 percent.

Every second operation was carried out in 2020 by depositing cash money through payment terminals and cash registers.

At the same time, both the volume of online transactions and their number increased. The volume of online transactions doubled and amounted to 656.6 billion tenge ($1.56 billion). The number of transactions rose by 1.5 times, amounting to 97 million.
