Iranian banks issue big loans to agricultural sector

Iranian banks issued loans worth 963 trillion rials (about $22.9 billion) to the agricultural sector of the country, during the first 10 months of the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2020 through January 19, 2021), Trend reports citing the statistics of Central Bank of Iran (CBI).

According to the statistics, about 213 trillion rials (about $5.08 billion) worth of loans were issued for the establishment of enterprises in the agricultural sector, the planting of gardens and arable lands.

In addition, 635 trillion rials (about $15.1 billion) worth of loans were issued as working capital in the agricultural sector, the statistics said.

“The loans worth 5.5 trillion rials (about $131 million) were issued for repair operations in the agricultural sector of Iran over the 10 months,” the statistics said.

According to the statistics, at the same time, 68.4 trillion rials (about $1.63 billion) worth of loans were issued for the development Iran's agricultural sector.

Moreover, 10.8 trillion rials (about $259 million) worth of loans were issued for the purchase of personal assets in the agricultural sector, 2.43 trillion rials (about $57.8 million) for the purchase of housing, and 27 trillion rials (about $644 million) for other purposes, the statistics said.

As reported, the Iranian banks issued loans worth a total of about 13.9 quadrillion rials (about $332 billion) in various sectors over the 10 months.
