The number of hired employees in Azerbaijan's economy reached 1.68 million people as of February 1, 2021, growing by 43,400 persons or 2.6 percent year on year, Trend reports on Mar. 15 referring to the State Statistical Committee of the country.
According to the committee, 915,300 of them were employed in the public sector, and 769,100 - in the private sector.
"Some 19.6 percent of wage earners from the total volume in the country were involved in education, 18.5 percent in trade and repair of vehicles, 12.7 percent – industry, 8.3 percent – health and public services, 7.5 percent - construction, 6.7 percent – public administration, defense and social security, 4.5 percent – transport and warehousing, 3.5 percent – agriculture, forestry and fishery, 3.4 percent - professional, scientific and technical activities, 1.7 percent - financial and insurance activities, and 13.6 percent in other sectors of the economy," said the committee.
In January 2021, the average monthly nominal salary of the hired employees in Azerbaijan shrank by 3 percent compared to the same month of 2020 by making up 690.9 manat ($406.4). In terms of the average salary the growth was observed in the mining industry, financial and insurance sectors, scientific and technical activities, information and communications, as well as in the transport and the warehousing sectors.
