Georgia earned $49.9 million from tourism in April 2021, the figure hit a record high since the COVID-19 pandemic began, Trend reports via the National Bank of Georgia.
In April, Georgia received a total of 82,519 international visitors (non-resident travelers of age 15 or older, who visited Georgia from their area of residence), which is an increase of 140 percent compared to 2020.
The growth is due to the flight resumption, as 40 percent of the visitors came by air. According to the National Bank of Georgia, the amount of money spent by these visitors is estimated at $49.9 million, which is up by 487 percent compared to April 2020.
Turkey ranks first among the countries by the number of visitors. As of April, 21,000 visitors came from Turkey in Georgia. Israel is on the second place with 10,000 visitors.

1. Turkey - 21,106 visitors, an increase of 48 percent over the previous year
2. Israel - 10,098 visitors, an increase of 13,925 percent over the previous year
3. Russia - 8,518 visitors, an increase of 125 percent over the previous year
4. Armenia - 8,331 visitors, an increase of 4 percent over the previous year
5. Georgia (non-resident) - 8,253 visitors, an increase of 441 percent over the previous year
6. Ukraine - 5,922 visitors, an increase of 404 percent over the previous year
7. Azerbaijan - 5,287 visitors, an increase of 107 percent over the previous year
8. Uzbekistan - 2,711 visitors, an increase of 293 percent over the previous year
9. Kazakhstan - 1,639 visitors, an increase of 285 percent over the previous year
10. Belarus - 1,463 visitors, an increase of 77 percent over the previous year
