Goods worth 1.895 billion soums ($179,321) were sold on all trading platforms of the Uzbek Republican Commodity Exchange (UZEX) for the period from May 24 to 30, which is 3.1 percent more than last week, Trend reports referring to UZEX.

According to UZEX, the total volume of transactions involving small businesses and private entrepreneurship amounted to 526.6 billion soums ($49 million). As a result of electronic auctions for public procurement, the total savings of budgetary and corporate customers amounted to 35.1 billion soums ($3.3 million).

It is reported that during the reporting period commodity resources worth 1.663 billion soums ($157,367) were sold at open exchange auctions.

Last week 1,629 tons of cottonseed oil were sold through exchange trades. On average, 163 buyers took part in the exchange trades every day.

During the period under review, the starting cost of cottonseed oil decreased by an average of eight percent, from 16,140 soums ($1.5254) to 15,586 soums ($1.4731) per ton, or by 3.4 percent. However, on the last day of trading, quotations increased to 16,653 soums ($1.5739) per ton.

At the end of the week, the weekly quotation of the first grade of cottonseed oil amounted to 17,718 soums ($1.6746) per ton.

Last week an insignificant decrease in prices was recorded in the prices for sugar. During the past week, 13,210 tons of sugar were put up for sale, of which 12,860 tons, or 97.4 percent, were sold.

During the period under review, the daily average price for sugar of all categories increased by 0.9 percent, from 7,338 soums ($0.6935) to 7,401 soums ($0.6995) per ton.

As a result of exchange trading, the weekly weighted average price for local sugar of the third category amounted to 7,325 soums ($0.6923) per ton.

The exchange prices for cement keep declining despite the growth in demand. During the past week, 280,506 tons of cement were put up for exchange trades, of which 197,471 tons, or 70.4 percent, were sold. The daily volume of cement sales averaged 47,200 tons.

During the period under review, the daily average price for cement of all categories decreased from 573,700 soums ($54.2) to 557,200 soums ($52.7), or only by four percent.
