The volume of securities turnover at par in the capital market of Azerbaijan increased by 31.5 percent in the first 4 months of 2021 compared to the same period of 2020, Trend reports with reference to the statistical report of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).

According to the report, the volume of trade turnover of securities reached 2.82 billion manat ($1.65 billion). Of these, 2.15 billion manat ($1.26 billion) fell on government bonds, and 670 million manat ($394.1 million) - on the notes of the Central Bank.

The share of government bonds in the securities market by the beginning of May amounted to 76.3 percent, and the CBA notes - 23.7 percent.

Starting from 2021, the auctions for the placement of Central Bank notes are mainly used to regulate liquidity. The main reason why auctions on notes are preferable to deposit auctions is the further development of the interbank money market.

Short-term notes are a monetary policy tool for regulating the money supply in circulation. Notes can only be purchased by banks.
