Average monthly nominal earnings in Georgia increased by 53.5 lari/$16.93 (4.4 percent) in the first quarter of 2021 compared to the same period of the previous year and amounted to 1,256.2 lari (about $397.53), Trend reports via the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).
The highest monthly earnings were observed in the following fields:
Financial and insurance activities – 2,448.5 lari/$774.84 (-5.7 percent year-on-year)
Information and communication – 2,159.8 lari/$683.48 (+14.4 percent)
Professional, scientific and technical activities – 1,798.9 lari/$569.27 (+0.2 percent)
Construction – 1,664.5 lari/$526.74 (-2.3 percent).
The average earnings for women reached 1,022.9 lari (about $323.70), while men earned 1,473.4 lari (about $466.27) per month.
The annual growth of earnings for women amounted to 62.5 lari ($19.78), and 49.5 lari ($15.66) for men.
"In the majority of sectors of the economy the average monthly earnings of men were higher compared to women", said Geostat.
The average monthly earnings of employees in the business sector increased by 56.5 lari ($17.88) and equaled 1,283.5 lari ($406.17).
The highest monthly earnings were observed in:
Arts, entertainment and recreation - 2,319.4 lari/$733.99 (+30.5 percent)
Information and communication activities - 2,204 lari/$697.47 (+14.7 percent)
The average monthly earnings of employees in the non-business and financial sector increased by 52.2 lari ($16.52) and amounted to 1,213.3 lari ($383.96).
The highest monthly earnings were observed in the financial and insurance activities.
