Uzbekistan and French Development Agency (FDA) discussed issues of cooperation on a strategy for the transition to ‘green economy’, energy efficiency and capacity building, Trend reports referring to the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction of Uzbekistan.
The mentioned issue was discussed at a meeting within the visit of the Executive Director for Operations of the FDA Jean-Pierre Marcelli to Uzbekistan on June 24-26, 2021. It was noted that this is the first visit of such a high-ranking representative of the FDA during the agency's activity in the country.
As a result of the meeting, the parties reached agreements on further joint cooperation and participation of the FAR in the process of economic reforms in Uzbekistan.
The sides also exchanged views on supporting the national strategy for the transition to a ‘green’ economy in order to qualitatively develop a new program of state loans and attract ‘green’ investments, as well as to increase the capacity of personnel in the field of ‘green’ macroeconomic forecasting and planning.
Also, proposals were made by the FDA on the development of financial and non-financial instruments to support the "green" economy.
In addition, the parties discussed and exchanged views on the Green Economy Financing Mechanism (MEPF) project, which is being implemented in Uzbekistan.
Within the framework of the Green Economy Financing Mechanism project, information was provided on the allocation of loans to small and medium-sized enterprises for the introduction of green technologies aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
