Uzbek National Bank leads in terms of nonperforming loans

The volume of nonperforming loans (NPL) of the National Bank of Uzbekistan as of June 1, 2021 amounted to 3.04 trillion soums ($287 million), Trend reports referring to the Central Bank of Uzbekistan.

According to the Central Bank, the volume of NPL in the portfolio of Uzbek banks for the reporting period reached 14.007 trillion soums ($1.3 billion).

It is reported that the share of NPL in the portfolio of Uzbek banks amounted to 4.7 percent as of June 1, 2021 against 4.4 percent as of May 1, 2021.

At the same time, the volume of NPL in state banks of Uzbekistan as of June 1, 2021 accounted for 12.21 trillion soums ($1.1 billion) with a share in the portfolio of banks amounting to 4.7 percent, and in private banks - 1.79 trillion soums ($169 million) with a share in the portfolio of banks amounting to 4.9 percent.

In particular, it is reported that the National Bank of Uzbekistan leads in terms of NPL volume - 3.04 trillion soums ($287 million) with a share in the portfolio - 4.5 percent, followed by Asaka Bank - 1.749 trillion soums ($165 million) (4.8 percent), Uzpromstroybank - 1.72 trillion soums ($162 million) (4.4 percent), Agrobank - 1.29 trillion soums ($122 million) (4.2 percent).

In addition, it was noted that Uzagroexportbank is the leader in terms of the share of NPL in its portfolio (84.1 percent) among state-owned banks and Hi-Tech Bank among non-state banks (89.3 percent).
