Amount of loans issued by Iranian banks soars

The number of loans issued by Iranian banks in various economic sectors increased by 71.3 percent during the first three months of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through June 21, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Trend reports citing the statistics of Central bank Of Iran (CBI).

According to the statistics, Iranian banks issued loans worth about 4.97 quadrillion rials (about $118 billion) in various economic sectors in the 3 months. While in the same period Iranian year, that figure amounted to 2.07 quadrillion rials (about $49.3 billion).

"So, the banks issued 285 trillion rials (about $6.78 billion) worth of loans in the agricultural sector within the mentioned period," the statistics said.

Moreover, the banks issued loans worth 1.57 quadrillion rials (about $37.5 billion) in Iran's industrial and mining sectors over the three months, the statistics said.

According to the statistics, the banks also issued loans worth 230 trillion rials (about $5.48 billion) in Iran's housing and construction sector during the reporting period.

"Furthermore, the Iranian banks issued loans worth 799 trillion rials (about $19 billion) in the trade sector in the three months," the statistics said.

At the same time, 2.08 quadrillion rials (about $49.6 billion) worth of loans were issued in the services sector and 1.72 trillion rials (about $41.1 million) in other unmentioned areas over the first three months of the current Iranian year, the statistics said.

According to the statistics, the loans are provided for the establishment of enterprises and facilities, as working capital, repair work, development, purchase of personal assets, purchase of apartments, and so on.
