Central Bank of Azerbaijan posts growth in foreign exchange reserves

The foreign exchange reserves of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) have grown as of late July 2021, Chairman of the CBA board Elman Rustamov said, Trend reports referring to the bank.

According to the CBA, this indicator exceeded $6.4 billion, which is 0.4 percent more than in the late July 2020.

At the same time, the bank’s foreign exchange reserves rose by 0.6 percent ($41.2 million) compared to the previous month.

Earlier, Chairman of the CBA board Elman Rustamov said that strategic foreign exchange reserves of Azerbaijan exceeded $52.2 billion, showing the stability of the national currency. He also noted that macroeconomic stability is maintained in Azerbaijan.

According to the forecasts of the International Monetary Fund, Azerbaijan's foreign exchange reserves will reach $6.3 billion in 2021, and $6.5 billion in 2022.
