Monetary base in Azerbaijan notably grows

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Aug.2

By Zeyni Jafarov - Trend:

The monetary base in Azerbaijan increased as of late July 2021, Trend reports with reference to the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).

According to the CBA, this indicator amounted to over 14.2 billion manat ($8.11 billion), which is 2.54 billion manat ($1.49 million, or 21.7 percent) more than in late July 2020.

At the same time, in montly terms the country’s monetary base grew by 410.4 million manat ($241.4 million, or three percent).

The CBA's monetary policy tools have been implemented within the interest rate corridor. At the auctions organized by the Central Bank for the placement of deposits and short-term notes, an excess of demand over supply is observed.

The monetary base includes cash and free banking and required reserves of commercial banks in circulation.
