Azerbaijan's Nakhchivan records increase in lending to legal entities, individuals

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Aug. 21

The volume of lending to legal entities and individuals by banks and credit institutions in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan rose by 26.8 percent from January through July 2021, compared to the same period of 2020, exceeding 126.8 million manat ($74.6 million), Trend reports citing the report of Nakhchivan’s State Statistical Committee.

Of this amount, long-term loans accounted for 111.6 million manat ($65.6 million), or 88 percent, short-term loans - 15.2 million manat or $8.94 million (12 percent).

During the specified period, the number of client accounts in the banks of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic reached 96,040, of which 83,030, or 86.5 percent, are active.

Of the 25,290 client accounts opened in the reporting period, 25,250 are active.

In the first 7 months of 2021, the number of installed POS terminals in Nakhchivan reached 1,475.
