Azerbaijan's Central Bank talks growth of capital repatriation in 1H2021

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Sept. 14

The volume of repatriation (export) of capital from Azerbaijan has grown in the first half of 2021, Trend reports referring to the data of the payment balance of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).

According to the data, this indicator amounted to $2.55 billion, up by $705.6 million or 38.3 percent compared to the first half of 2020 ($1.8 billion).

From January through June 2021, residents in Azerbaijan have paid interest on securities to non-residents in the amount of $173.9 million, which is $4.3 million or 2.5 percent more than in the same period of last year.

Interests on used foreign loans decreased by $78 million (35 percent) - from $225.4 million [recorded in the first half of last year] to $147.3 million, other payments - from $201.3 million to $126.6 million (by $74.7 million, or 37 percent).

In 2020, the volume of repatriation (export) of capital from Azerbaijan grew up to $4.47 billion, thus having risen by $1.25 billion or 38.8 percent compared to 2019 ($3.22 billion).
