British American Tobacco increases its stake at Uzbekistan's Samfruit

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Sept. 23

British American Tobacco Uzbekistan (Investments) Limited has increased its stake in Uzbekistan’s Samarkand-based company Samfruit, Trend reports citing according to Uzbek Republican Stock Exchange "Toshkent".

British company bought another 350,000 shares (0.99 percent), bringing the total amount of shares that the company owns to 12,414,688, with a total par value of $116,084. Thus, British American Tobacco Uzbekistan increased its stake in Samfruit to 35.1 percent.

The previous deal between the two companies took place on June 7th, 2021. Then, British American Tobacco Uzbekistan bought 712,000 shares, increasing its share by 2 percent.

As of November 20, 2020, the company owned a 32 percent stake in the authorized capital of Samfruit JSC (11,352,688 shares).

Samfruit is an Uzbek-Swiss joint venture established in 2003. The company is a manufacturer and distributor of natural dried vegetables and fruits. Today, Samfruit products are exported to 16 countries.
