Kazakhstan records growth in volume of money transfers

A total of 5.5 million transfers worth 63.4 trillion tenge ($149.1 billion) were made via services of Kazakhstan National Bank's payment systems in August 2021, Trend reports with reference to the data of the bank.

This is 11.3 percent more in volume and 0.5 percent more in value compared to July 2021. On average, 260,500 transactions worth 3 trillion tenge ($7.05 billion) were carried out daily.

The volume of plastic cards issued in Kazakhstan amounted to 55.7 million cards as of September 1, 2021, and 47.9 percent of them were used in August 2021.

The volume of transactions via plastic cards of Kazakh issuers amounted to 616.1 million transactions worth 8.6 trillion tenge ($20.2 billion) in August 2021, which means an increase of 4.7 percent in volume and by 4.3 percent in value compared to July 2021.

Furthermore, the total volume of funds sent via international systems of money transfers amounted to 0.3 million transfers worth 105.4 billion ($248 million) in August 2021, which is 8.4 percent more in value compared to July 2021.

Out of the total volume of transfers, 94.7 percent of total volume or 95.2 percent of total value (100.3 billion tenge or $236 million) accounted for transfers from Kazakhstan to other countries.

Some 5.3 percent of total volume (0.1 million) and 4.8 percent of total value (5.1 billion tenge or $12 million) accounted for transfers in Kazakhstan.

The remaining 0.1 million transfers worth 24.3 billion tenge ($57.1 million) accounted for transfers from other countries to Kazakhstan.
