Amount of loans issued by Iranian banks continue to grow

The Iranian banks issued loans worth about 12.4 quadrillion rials (about $295 billion) in various economic sectors in the country during the first six months of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through September 22, 2021), Trend reports citing the statistics of Central Bank of Iran (CBI).

Meanwhile, in the same period of the Iranian year, the figure stood at 4.55 quadrillion rials (about $108 billion).

"So, the banks issued 879 trillion rials (about $20.9 billion) worth of loans in the agricultural sector in the mentioned period," the statistics said.

Moreover, the banks issued loans worth 3.73 quadrillion rials (about $88.7 billion) in Iran's industrial and mining sectors over six months.

According to the statistics, the banks also issued loans worth 627 trillion rials (about $14.9 billion) in Iran's housing and construction sector during the reporting period.

Furthermore, the Iranian banks issued loans worth 1.85 quadrillion rials (about $44.1 billion) in the trade sector in 6 months.

At the same time, 5.32 quadrillion rials (about $126 billion) worth of loans was issued in the services sector and 2.43 trillion rials (about $57.9 million) in other unmentioned areas over the first 6 months of the current Iranian year, the statistics said.

According to the statistics, the loans are provided for the establishment of enterprises and facilities, as working capital, repair work, development, purchase of personal assets, purchase of apartments, and so on.
