Iran's CBI unveils value of foreign assets of Iranian banks

The value of foreign assets of Central Bank of Iran, other Iranian banks and financial institutions amounted to 20.4 quadrillion rials (about $487 billion) in total at the end of the 6th month of the current Iranian year (September 22, 2021), Trend reports citing the statistics of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI).

According to the statistics, this is an increase of 59.3 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year. So, the figure was 12.8 quadrillion rials (about $306 billion) in the same period last Iranian year.

“So, the value of foreign assets of the CBI amounted to 6.69 quadrillion rials (about $159 billion) at the end of sixth month, which is an increase of 20.5 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. So, the figure stood at 5.55 quadrillion rials (about $132 billion) in the same period last Iranian year,” the statistics said.

In addition, the value of foreign assets of other banks and financial institutions in Iran for the reporting period amounted to 13.8 quadrillion rials (about $328 billion), which an increase of 88.8 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. Meanwhile, in the same period last Iranian year, this figure was 7.29 quadrillion rials (about $174 billion), the statistics said.
