BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 4. Azerbaijan's total public debt is projected at 17.99 billion manat ($10.58 billion) on January 1, 2023, up by 6.46 percent compared to the corresponding indicator of 2022, Trend reports referring to Azerbaijan's Ministry of Finance.

According to the ministry, the external debt will reach $8.239 billion, while the internal debt will amount to 3.98 billion manat ($2.3 billion).

By January 1, 2023, a total of 81.4 percent of the domestic public debt will fall on government bonds issued in the domestic financial market.

"As of July 1, 2022, the country's overall government debt is estimated at 16.928 billion manat ($9.9 billion), or 14.7 percent of GDP, including internal debt – 3.528 billion manat (2.07 billion), or three percent of GDP, as well as external debt – $7.882 billion, or 11.7 percent of GDP," the ministry said.

In the reporting period, Azerbaijan's direct public debt is valued at 14.973 billion manat ($8.8 billion), or 13 percent of GDP, including internal debt – 2.789 billion manat ($1.6 billion), or 2.4 percent of GDP, while external debt totaled $7.167 billion, or 10.6 percent of GDP.

As of January 1, 2022, Azerbaijan's public debt was rated at 16.899 billion manat ($9.9 billion), including 3.68 billion manat ($2.16 billion) of domestic debt, whereas $8.135 billion of external debt.
