Azerbaijan reveals volume of local banking sector assets

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 22. The volume of Azerbaijani banks’ total assets increased as of August 1, 2022, Trend reports via the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).

According to the CBA, this figure amounted to 41.58 billion manat ($24.46 billion), up by 23.53 percent on annual basis.

Besides, the volumes of total liabilities and capital on the balance sheet grew by 26.13 percent and 7.78 percent, equaling 36.45 billion manat ($21.44 billion) and 5.13 billion manat ($3.02 billion), respectively.

The CBA also noted that the loan portfolio of Azerbaijani banks increased by 23.54 percent (3.5 billion manat or $2.06 billion) in July 2022 compared to the same period last year - up to 18.48 billion manat ($10.87 billion).

In the reporting month, share of deposit portfolio in the structure of liabilities of Azerbaijani banks dominated (81.2 percent of the total volume of liabilities), and the deposit portfolio of the banks increased by 29.55 percent (6.7 billion manat or $3.9 billion) or up to 29.6 billion manat ($17.4 billion).
