Turkmenistan notices growth of assets of credit institutions

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, September 14. The total assets of all registered credit institutions in Turkmenistan as of August 1, 2023, amounted to over 153.95 billion Turkmen manats ($43.94 billion), Trend reports.

According to the Central Bank of Turkmenistan, this is 9.4 percent more than the same period in 2022 (144.6 billion Turkmen manats, or $41.27 billion).

Of the total assets, loans issued to credit institutions, enterprises, organizations, and citizens at the beginning of August 2023 amounted to 119.88 billion Turkmen manats ($34.21 billion), which is 4 percent more than in the same month of 2022 (115.17 billion Turkmen manats, or $32.87 billion).

At the specified time, correspondent accounts in the Central Bank of Turkmenistan and funds in reserve accounts increased by 42.3 percent compared to the beginning of August 2022 (14.18 billion Turkmen manats, or $4.04 billion), amounting to 20.18 billion Turkmen manats ($5.75 billion).

Meanwhile, according to the Central Bank of Turkmenistan, the official exchange rate of the Turkmen manat against the US dollar on September 14, 2023, is set at 3.5 manat per USD.
