BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 28. Turnover of payment cards through ATMs and POS terminals in Azerbaijan increased by 2.8 billion manat ($1.64 billion), or 53.46 percent, from 5.2 billion ($3 billion) to 8 billion manat ($4.7 billion) as of September 1, 2023, Trend reports.
The data of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) shows that the total number of payment card transactions amounted to 109.8 million (up 90.12 percent over the year), including 5.6 million transactions worth 334 million manat ($196.4) were carried out abroad.
The number of debit card transactions (both inside and outside the country) amounted to 98.6 million worth 7.5 billion manat ($4.4 billion), of which 12.9 million transactions worth 2.9 billion manat ($1.7 billion) were made through ATMs and 34.2 million transactions worth 693 million manat ($407.6 million) were made through POS terminals inside Azerbaijan.
Bank customers made 11.1 million transactions on credit cards (both inside and outside the country) totaling 583 million manat ($342.9 million).
At the same time, 554,000 transactions worth 119 million manat ($69.9 million) were made through ATMs inside the country, and 5.5 million transactions worth 180 million manat ($105.8 million) were made through POS terminals.
It should be noted that the number of payment cards in Azerbaijan increased by 2.6 million or 20.21 percent as of September 1, 2023 year-on-year and reached 15.6 million against 13 million a year earlier.
