BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 4. Iran's foreign debts decreased by 21.9 percent at the end of the 4th month of the current Iranian year (July 22, 2023), compared to the same period the previous year (July 22, 2022), Trend reports.
According to data from the Central Bank, Iran's foreign debts amounted to approximately $5.6 billion at the end of the fourth month of this year.
Meanwhile, the figure stood at $7.17 billion at the end of the 4th month of the last Iranian year (July 22, 2022).
Iran's short-term debts amounted to about $1.67 billion, while its long-term debts amounted to about $3.93 billion at the end of the fourth month.
In euros, Iran's foreign debt amounted to approximately 5.03 billion euros at the end of the fourth month. Of that, about 1.5 billion euros were short-term debts, while 3.53 billion euros were long-term debts.
The Iranian government considers the reduction of foreign debt to be effective for the country's economy. Iran is considered the country with the least foreign debt among the Middle East and Central Asia countries.
