Turkmenistan unveils surplus in loans from state-owned enterprises

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, February 26. The balance of credit funds issued by credit institutions in Turkmenistan to state institutions and enterprises as of January 1, 2024, amounted to 55 billion Turkmen manat ($15.7 billion), Trend reports.

According to the Central Bank of Turkmenistan, these figures are 4.6 percent lower than on the same date last year (57.68 billion Turkmen manats, or $16.4 billion).

The total amount of loan balances at the beginning of January this year provided to non-governmental enterprises and organizations in the country amounted to 12.28 billion Turkmen manat ($3.5 billion), which is 1 percent more than in the same period of 2022 (12.15 billion Turkmen manat, or $3.47 billion).

Meanwhile, Turkmenistan is currently undergoing continuous growth in its financial sector, marked by the adoption of various advancements.

A noteworthy progression is the increasing accessibility of mobile apps, which facilitate payments for an array of services and goods. Electronic transactions are becoming more popular, and the utilization of bank terminals for payment purposes is also escalating.
