ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, February 28. The total volume of non-cash payments via terminals for the whole of 2023 amounted to 15.74 billion Turkmen manat ($4.5 billion) in Turkmenistan, Trend reports.
According to the Central Bank of Turkmenistan, over the specified period, these figures are 14 percent higher than those for 2022 (13.8 billion Turkmen manats or $3.94 billion).
The total amount of non-cash payments through ATMs amounted to 390.91 million Turkmen manat ($111.57 million), which is 41.2 percent more than in 2022 (276.75 million Turkmen manat or $79 million).
Furthermore, the total volume of non-cash payments through terminals in Turkmenistan in 2022 amounted to 13.8 billion Turkmen manat ($3.94 billion), which is 27.6 percent more than in 2021 (10.81 billion Turkmen manat or $3.08 billion).
Meanwhile, in recent years, Turkmenistan's banking sector has continued to develop actively, focusing on infrastructure modernization and the introduction of new technologies to increase the availability of financial services to the public and businesses.
Increasing the level of financial literacy among the population, improving regulation and supervision by the state, and attracting foreign investment contribute to the sustainable growth and development of the banking system of Turkmenistan.
