BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 5. The loan portfolio of Azerbaijani banks grew by 19.81 percent on January 31, 2024, compared to the same period of 2023, and reached 23.5 billion manat ($13.8 billion), Trend reports.
According to the Central Bank of Azerbaijan, as of January 31, 2023, the loan portfolio of Azerbaijani banks amounted to 19.6 billion manat ($11.5 billion).
In the structure of banks' loan portfolio, the share of business loans amounted to 54.8 percent (12.9 billion manat ($7.5 billion), year-on-year growth of 19.06 percent), consumer loans - 29.73 percent (7 billion manat ($4.1 billion), year-on-year growth by 20.58 percent), mortgage loans - 15.47 percent (3.6 billion manat ($2.1 billion), year-on-year growth by 21.02 percent).
Meanwhile, the loan portfolio of Azerbaijani banks grew by 18.32 percent as of December 31, 2023, compared to the same period of 2022, and reached 23.1 billion manat ($13.5 billion).
To note, as of December 31, 2023, total assets of banks in Azerbaijan exceeded 49.1 billion manat ($28.8 billion), total liabilities - 43.1 billion manat ($25.3 billion), and total capital - 6 billion manat ($3.5 billion).
According to the Central Bank of Azerbaijan, compared to the same period in 2022, assets, liabilities as well as capital of the banking sector increased by 4.5, 4.1, and 7.8 percent respectively.
