ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, July 4. The total sum of deposits garnered by banks in Turkmenistan in the domestic currency from January through March this year reached almost 55.6 billion Turkmen manat ($15.8 billion), Trend reports.
Data from the Central Bank of Turkmenistan show that out of the total volume of attracted deposits, bank deposits of legal entities in the first quarter of this year amounted to 46.2 billion Turkmen manat ($13.2 billion).
Furthermore, from January through March 2024, deposits of individuals in banks in Turkmenistan reached a total of 9.3 billion Turkmen manats ($2.6 billion).
Meanwhile, over the past year, Turkmenistan's banks deposited 245 billion Turkmen manat (equivalent to $69.9 billion) in the national currency, yielding an average interest rate of 0.59 percent.
Data from the Central Bank of Turkmenistan show that on July 4, 2024, the official exchange rate of the Turkmen manat against the US dollar was set at 3.5 manats per USD.
