BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 3. The Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) held its latest currency auction on September 3, Trend reports.
The CBA's data reveals that demand at the auction was $64.9 million, marking a decrease of 19.28 percent, or $15.5 million, from the previous auction. This demand was fully met.
For comparison, the demand at the last auction was $80.4 million.
The weighted average exchange rate for the auction was 1.7 AZN per USD.
Since the beginning of the year, $ 4.86 billion has been acquired at currency auctions. The highest demand this year was recorded on February 13, 2024, reaching $151.1 million.
In January 2024, $417.1 million were acquired; in February, $870.6 million; in March, $498.3 million; in April, $623.4 million; in May, $558.6 million; in June, $581 million; and in July, $597.1 million.
In 2023, $3.836 billion were acquired at currency auctions.
The CBA has been conducting currency auctions through one-sided sales in competitive conditions since mid-January 2017.
