BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 21. Germany shows serious interest in the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), Permanent Representative of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Azerbaijan Heiko Schwarz said during the conference on reconstruction of water supply and sewerage infrastructure in the Karabakh region, Trend reports.
He recalled that last month State Secretary and Special Commissioner of the German Foreign Ministry for International Climate Policy Jennifer Morgan visited Baku, and very fruitful talks were held with various ministries during the visit.
"As you know, in November this year, Azerbaijan will host the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), and Germany is particularly interested in this conference. COP29 will be a huge success. We will do everything in our power to support and help make it a success," he said.
To note, the decision to host COP29 in Azerbaijan was officially announced in Dubai on December 11, 2023. Azerbaijan will host the event in November 2024.
