BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 1. Green hydrogen can be used as a marine fuel in the Caspian Sea in the medium term, Director-General of the Baku International Sea Trade Port (BISTP) Taleh Ziyadov told reporters on the sidelines of the Baku Climate Action Week, Trend reports.

Ziyadov noted that Kazakhstan is seriously considering the possibility of using hydrogen as 'green' fuel.

"In 5-10 years, hydrogen will become more accessible for general use. This issue is also being discussed in Azerbaijan," he said.

The port's head also called on all participants of the Middle Corridor to accelerate the 'green' transition, taking into account that the European Union intends to introduce a carbon emissions tax in 2026 and will set requirements for containers and cargo in line with 'green' standards and the availability of 'green' certificates.
