Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend S.Babayeva /The Azerbaijani Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies publicized the status of privatization of state shares in joint ventures of Azerbaijan.
Ali Abbasov, the Minister for Communications and Information Technologies said on 26 September that the privatization of the 35.7% state shares of the mobile operator Azercell Telecom, the 50% share of Azeurotel, and 28% of Ultel is coming to the end.
"There is no problem in privatization," the Minister stressed. And after January 2008, the privatization of these enterprises will be intensified.
Touching upon the privatization of state-run communications enterprises, Abbasov said that a consultation company is developing proposals and they might be developed and presented by the end of the year.
The Minister said that the major problem is linked with the privatization of Aztelekom and Baktelekom production associations. Restructuring the enterprises will be carried out until their complete privatization.
"Now we are waiting for proposals by consultants," the Minister said.
The privatization of the communications enterprises in Azerbaijan is carried out in accordance with the section of an action on implementation of the state program on development of information and communication technologies in Azerbaijan in 2006-2008 (Electronic Azerbaijan).
