AZ Domain Managing Mechanism Should be Improved in Azerbaijan: Expert
Azerbaijan, Baku, 10 January / corr Trend S.Babayeva / The AZ domain managing mechanism should be improved in Azerbaijan, Osman Gunduzov, the head of the Azerbaijani NGO Internet-Forum and the Multimedia Center, said.
"This issue was repeatedly discussed with the [Azerbaijani] administrations and international organizations," the head of NGO said.
According to the expert, the management over domains and solutions to the internet problems will be carried out by independent establishments. "There is an organization on the registration of Internet resources which includes representatives from state, private and non-governmental organizations. However, it is currently inactive," Gunduz said.
Commenting on the Special Council recently established to resolve the problems that the Azerbaijani domains faced regarding the internet at the Communications Ministry, Gunduz ruled out any need for such an establishment, because a similar organization, which was established a while ago, had failed to bring positive results. "I would like to state that careless regulations may transform into an original censorship," Gunduz said.
The new establishment will include experts from NGOs, Government, business and science.
