Kazakh Versions of Microsoft Office 2007 and Office Online Launched in Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan, Astana, 10 September / Trend corr. K.Konirova / The Microsoft representation in Kazakhstan and Central Asia officially announced launch of the Kazakh versions of its products, including Microsoft Office 2007, Office Online, Microsoft SharePoint Server 2007 and Windows Vista (LIP), Trend correspondent reported from Astana.

"It is necessary to mention that at present we can install the Kazakh versions of Windows and Office at the Kazakh schools. Teachers faced with problems of absence of the software program in the Kazakh language for a long time and they had to use the program in Russian language," Zhanna Gaziyeva, deputy director of the lyceum 38 on scientific and methodological work said at the presentation of the Kazakh versions of the Microsoft products in Astana.

These products are being launched with the support of the State Terminological Commission at the Kazakh Government, which actively participated in development process and adoption of special glossary comprising professional terms in Kazakh language. This work took about one and half year to complete.

"Development of information technology in the country is one of priority directions for the Microsoft company. Number of Microsoft's localized program decisions will be increased in Kazakhstan in future. Their use will provide for active transfer of the state, commercial and social organizations to the Kazakh language," Dana Altibayeva, director on business marketing of the Microsoft Kazakhstan company said.

Localization project targets to develop IT industry and to improve computer competence of people, as well as to support development and study of the Kazakh language for all citizens living in the country.

The Kazakh language versions of the Microsoft products enable to facilitate work with the information technologies both for individual users and organizations. They will assist to transfer circulation of documents into the state language and support teaching process in the Kazakh language at schools and universities in future.
