The Azerbaijani Communications and IT Ministry's Aztelecom production unit announced the winner of a tender to install the Next Generation Network (NGN) in the Goychay region.
The Slovenian telecommunications company Iskratel won the tender, an Aztelecom source said.
Iskratel will reconstruct central and rural automatic telephone exchanges in the region using NGN.
The first NGN in Azerbaijan was installed and commissioned by Iskratel in the Shamakhi region, which comprises 23 villages. The system enables residents to use IP telephone, Internet, television and DATA services.
NGN includes an universal multipurpose network for voice, images and data transmission.
The network provides services for different kinds of telecommunications traffic. The network will enable users to use VoIP telephone, voice mail, and data transmission and multimedia services.
