Microsoft not to reduce staff in Azerbaijan's office

The Microsoft will not reduce the staff in Azerbaijan's office, corporation's representative in Azerbaijan said.

In late January, Microsoft informed about the reduction of staffs up to 5,000 people, 1,400 positions were cancelled immediately and the rest positions will be gradually closed to June 2010. However, the corporation has reviewed that decision. Under this decision 3,500 people will be dissolved, the ITAR-TASS reported.

In e-appeal to workers General Director of Microsoft Stiv Balmer said that there would be made additional reduction. For the first time over 23 years the incomes of the largest software company Microsoft became falling in the first quarter of the year. Representative of Microsoft explained this reduction due to weakening of demand to their production on the background of global financial crisis.

The Microsoft Azerbaijan company (representation of corporation in Azerbaijan) is operating since 2005. Its objective is to develop the software market and promote products corporation, supporting partners and customers, as well as the localization of advanced technology corporation and implementation of social projects in the territory of Azerbaijan. Head of representation is Teymur Akhundov.
