Azerbaijani Communication and Information Technology Ministry provided over 19,000 families with telephone in January-May, the ministry said.
As many as 19,500 numbers were put into operation. Total of 15,244 of them were put into operation by Aztelekom and 425 by Baktelekom.
According to government's estimations, number of telephone sets per 100 people will increase up to 19.8 units by 2011 while this figure is slightly over 15 units at the moment.
The Communication Ministry launched 126,400 telephone numbers in 2008.
