A delegation from the Azerbaijani Communication and Information Technology Ministry is participating in a regional forum on "The Next Generation Network (NGN) and broadband communications, opportunities and challenges" for the development of the telecommunication sector of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in the regions of Europe and the CIS, which is taking place in Chisinau on Aug.24-26, the ministry said.
According to the ministry, the head of the ministry's department for the development of information technology society, Rufat Gulmammadov, and Deputy General Director of Aztelecom, Mehman Hasanov, represented Azerbaijan at this event.
The event will focus on NGN issues and broadband access, as well as the role of information technology in reducing the digital split in developing countries.
The participants will identify methods of stimulating NGN and broadband communication technology development in the CIS and Europe. Profiled specialists will discuss the areas for ITU development on a regional level, as well as the development of new telecommunication technology.
During the event, meetings will be held to develop new digital technology, apply it to all spheres of activity, and promote digital services in the regions of the CIS countries and Europe.
One of the sessions will just discuss User-to-Network Interface, on the basis of which telecommunication services are provided.
The forum will view aspects of the regulatory processes with those regulatory agencies which are faced with implementing the NGN and broadband technology and discuss problems and opportunities that arise while providing wireless broadband networks.
During the conclusion the experience of NGN and broadband technology development in Europe and the CIS will be summed up.
