Baku to host 3rd int'l conference on use of ICT

On Oct. 14-16, Baku will host the third international conference on information and communication technology - AICT2009, the head of the Caucasus University Department for Computer Complexes, Systems and Networks, Abzetdin Adamov, told Trend .

The AICT2009 Conference will be organized by the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, the Institute of Information Technology of the Azerbaijan Academy of Sciences, the Caucasus University, Baku State University and the Azerbaijan Technical University, in partnership with the Turkish branch of the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), ComSoc and the IEEE Regional Office in Uzbekistan.

Adamov said that the conference will be chaired by the Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Ali Abbasov, and the Minister of Education, Misir Mardanov. The conference will cover a wide range of technical problems, some of which are based on the growing interest in wireless Internet access and the development of 3G and 4G cellular technology.

The conference will examine the use of ICT in governance and the formulation of government policies on e-government, in medicine, health, education, science and humanitarian and social spheres.

Particular attention will be paid to the construction of various wireless networks (WLAN and Mobile WIMAX, 3G and 4G) and security systems in mobile networks and the application of GIS systems, WEB-technologies, etc.
