ICANN's adoption of documents to use national languages in all their ABC-symbol specificity in addressed of web-resources, will launch registration and use of new domains containing the letters of the Azerbaijani alphabet in Azerbaijan, Director of Institute of Information Technologies, Rasim Aliguliyev said on October 29.
ICANN is the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers.
He said that appearance of a domain in the Azerbaijani language will mainly determine new strategic spheres for development of national Internet segment.
Use of national languages not only in content but also in addressed of web-resources must promote more convenient communication via Internet between people of those countries and regions for which these languages are native.
Prospects for expanding the methods and means of WEB-address using alphabets of different countries and other ways of writing have been discussed in ICANN since its founding in 1998.
ICANN has submitted a final version of the plan to introduce a limited number of new domain zones in national languages for those countries, the alphabet of which differs from Latin on September 30.
