Delta Telecom Company has launched commercial exploitation of WiMAX wireless Internet services, the company said.
The cost of the Internet access via WiMAX technology will vary from 10 to 100 manat. User devices (WiMAX modems) will be available directly at the Company. Data transfer rate in the Mobile WiMAX network will reach six Gbit/s.
The 2.6 GHz frequency will be used to set up wireless access to WiMAX.
At present, operations have been completed over the first phase of the project. About 110 base stations have been installed in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula.
The company has launched realization of the second phase of the project. It envisages expansion of WiMAX network at a regional level.
Specialists of the company conduct operations to determine relevant places where WiMAX base stations will be installed.
The work is conducted in Guba, Ganja, Astara and other areas. The second phase of the project envisages installation of 140 base stations.
The WiMAX Delta Telecom network is based on standard 802.16e, also known as Mobile WiMAX, and intended for mobile devices moving at speeds up to 120 km/h.
The network is built on the base of Alcatel-Lucent equipment, with which Delta Telecom Ltd signed an agreement in September 2008.
