Azerbaijani communication operator to complete reconstruction of regional automatic telephone exchange on NGN base by late of first quarter

Aztelekom Production Union of the Communications and IT Ministry completes work to transfer telecommunication hubs in Ganja and Sumgait to the NGN (Next Generation Network), Aztelekom told Trend .

According to Aztelekom's plans, the operations on transfer telecommunication hubs of these regions will be completed by late of the first quarter.

Operations on introduction the NGN technology are held on ATE 54 and 55 in Ganja. After completing the operations the number capacity of these ATEs will increase up to 37,000 numbers, 20,000 will belong to the ATEs 54 and 55, and the rest 17,000 - to other ATEs.

Today Aztelekom completes installation of new equipment in Sumgait's automatic telephone exchanges 646/647/645/649. As a result of reconstruction the communication hub's capacity will be increased by 43,000 numbers.

Currently, the NGN network covers Absheron Peninsula and Shamakhi region.

NGN technology is a network with switching of packages, allowing more efficient use of existing communication channels. A flexible switching system and a unified technology of data transfer allow rendering a wide range of services. This will allow rendering traditional communication services and IP telephony, broadband Internet, IP-TV to the population.
