Azerbaijani mobile operator expands 3G network in Nakhichevan

Azerbaijani mobile operator Azerfon LLC operates to expand 3G network in the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic, Azerfon Corporate Communications Manager Elshad Farzaliyev told Trend .

According to Farzaliyev, work on installation of telecommunications equipment are conducted jointly with the Communications and IT Ministry of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. It will allow increasing a subscriber's base to 20,000 subscribers.

Installation of 3G equipment will provide the population of the Autonomous Republic with traditional voice services and high speed data transmission, mobile TV, video calls and other communications services.

3G mobile communication is characterized by a high-speed data transmission. The speed of data transmission in 3G network reaches 3.5 Mbps. It provides operational loading of multimedia content, high-speed Internet access, usability of e-mail and file applications.

Today, Azerfon's 3G network is deployed in Baku, Sumgait and Absheron peninsula, as well as in Ganja, Shirvan, Nakhichevan, Mingachevir, Sheki, Tovuz and Shamkir. The company's future plans include expanding of 3G network throughout the republic.
