Synterra completes design and survey to build cross-border transition between Russia and Azerbaijan

Design and survey work for the construction of a cross-border transition between Russia and Azerbaijan in the area of Derbent-Guba is under completion, Synterra Group of Companies spokeswoman Ekaterina Andreeva told Trend.

She said that work on the assessment of the project will be completed shortly. Afterwards, it will be examined.

"The completion of the construction will be clarified after getting a permit for construction from the Russian Federal Service for Supervision in the sphere of Mass Communications. Backbone network's capacity is 10 Gbit / s", she said.

Today, "Synterra" has permission to build the Commission on Federal Communications and Information Technology.

Obtaining permission to design the transition is the next stage of approval.

Realization of the project will expand the geographic presence of operators on the markets of Azerbaijan and Russia, as well as neighboring countries of the Caspian region.

Russian Synterra and Azerbaijani Azertelekom hold 50 percent share of Azerbaijani-Russian venture C-Ring Telecom. The documents were signed in Baku in 2009.

C-Ring Telecom has completed the construction of the Azerbaijani segment of the fiber-optic cable line connecting the telecommunications infrastructure of the national operators of Azerbaijan and Russia. Operator operates to test the main line.

The Russian segment of the infrastructure is also ready to complete the project. Spokesman for the group of companies Synterra Ekaterina Andreeva said that "Synterra" laid more than 180 kilometers of primary and backup fiber-optic communication lines from the site of its national backbone network in Makhachkala to enter the border area from the Russian side.

C-Ring Telecom will use resources and capabilities of Azertelecom's and Synterra's infrastructures in its projects on the territory of Azerbaijan and Russia. Azerbaijani business and the public will have a full access to a range of communication services offered by "Synterra", including services of international / long distance, rental of main channel services based on network IP MPLS, Internet access, network access data centers and distributed call-center.

The access to basic telecommunications services (voice, internet access) will be provided by Azertelecom, and the development of innovative services (data centers, call-center, GRID-technology, content services) -l C-Ring Telecom.
