A coordination group for digital broadcasting will consider issues for the coordination of frequency assignments, the Regional Commonwealth of Communications said.

The issue will be discussed within the 12-th meeting of the coordination group for digital broadcasting, to be held August 27 in Kyrgyzstan.

During the meeting the group will continue to work on finalizing the draft recommendations for the coordination of new and modification of planned frequency assignments and allotments of digital broadcasting in the frequency bands 174-230 MHz between communication administrations.

Azerbaijan will be represented by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology in the meeting.

Chief engineer of public administration for radio frequencies Ilham Efendiev told Trend that the third meter range 174 - 230 MHz in Azerbaijan is used for digital broadcasting and covers 6-12 channels.

Experience and plans for introducing digital terrestrial television, the results of the tests in advanced areas of digital broadcasting will be discussed at the meeting of Coordination Group.

Today, different TV and radio frequencies operate in three regions of the world. Different technologies of radio broadcasting are applied. Azerbaijan belongs to the European region.

The meeting will be preceded by a workshop ITU "Implementation of digital broadcasting", to be held in Kyrgyzstan August 24-25.
