The Azerbaijani Communications and IT Ministry's Aztelekom Production Unit increased the regional public telephone network's number capacity to 2,688 units today.
The new number capacity was commissioned at the Astara, Imishli, Goychay, Ismayilli and Agstafa regional telecommunications nodes.
According to the ministry, the share of automated telephone exchanges at the regional level exceeds 95 percent. The number of phones per 100 individuals is 10.7. Some 6.94 million manat have been invested by the ministry in reconstructing the regional telecommunications nodes.
The operator has also installed telecommunications equipment for broadband access with a port capacity of 330 units at the abovementioned telecommunications nodes. At present, the number of broadband ports in the Aztelekom network is 5,600 units. AztelekomNet provides broadband Internet services to 51 cities throughout the country.
