Deputy Communications and IT Minister: AzDATACOM Internet infrastructure to enter active phase of development by late 2010

AzDATACOM Internet infrastructure will enter the active phase of development by late 2010, Azerbaijani Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technologies Iltimas Mammadov said today.

He said today AzDATACOM's network infrastructure doesn't cover Shaki, Zagatala and Balakan regions.

"Works in this direction are underway, and according to the plans they are scheduled to end by late 2010. The second phase within the works on expanding AzDATACOM's network infrastructure envisages laying fiber-optic cable line of the Lerik-Yardimli segment," Mammadov said.

Works on expanding the AzDATACOM segment are implemented under the project "National initiative of e-government network."

Network's capacity is 10 Gbps. Commissioning of the high-speed network will significantly increase the number of broadband internet users and non-traditional communications services (VoIP, IP-TV, etc.).

Implementation of the project will allow successfully use the network capabilities for remote education, electronic commerce and remote business management.
