Price policy of the world software vendors prevents the development of the Azerbaijani market of licensed software, the chairman of Alfa Sıgorta insurance company's board of directors Khayal Mammadkhanli said at a meeting of the Caspian-European Integration Business Club (CEIBC).
According to him, today prices for products of companies such as Microsoft and Oracle are high, which makes them virtually inaccessible for the broad masses of users, leading to obtaining of illegal software.
According to the Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technologies Elmir Velizade, the use of licensed products is necessary, especially for state agencies and private sector enterprises.
"Today, a number of public and private agencies have already moved to the use of licensed software, and this process continues. Regarding the tariff policy of the world's software companies, today this question, in a sense, is being solved through projects within which companies themselves provide the licensed version of the software products. One of these projects is the 'People's PC'," Velizade said.
According to Velizade, an important aspect in the issue of pricing is the size of the market.
