The Azerbaijani Health Ministry issued 420,000 electronic health cards, Ministry Deputy Spokesman Jabrayil Asadzade told Trend today.
Asadzade said the population was issued about 130,000 e- health cards in 2010.
30,000 units of the total number of cards issued by the ministry fell to the category of patients who are given drugs free of charge and patients undergoing the test.
Electronic health cards are made in the center of public health and reforms of the Health Ministry. They are given to parents of newborns and children under age 14 free of charge through clinics.
E-card contains information about the identity of the holder, medical and social insurance, etc. The information is included into a single database directly from medical institutions through a local network, allowing exchanging official information rapidly.
At present, all maternity hospitals and children's hospitals operate under the Ministry.
Automatization of medical records of patients simplifies search of necessary information and reduces time of making diagnosis. The project is being realized as a part of the state program "Electronic Azerbaijan".
