The President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov has asked the government to look at possibilities for establishing private mobile operators and joint ventures with leading foreign companies. Turkmenistan companies would hold over 50 percent in any such joint ventures, reports Turkmenistan.ru. The state will offer low-interest loans for the new companies in the initial stages, Telecompaper reported. The president also said that reform of the state-owned mobile subsidiary of the Ministry of Communications is needed, to turn the operator into a private entity.
